Online Shia Quran Academy was founded on a simple yet meaningful realization: millions of Shia Muslims residing across Western nations, Africa, and East Asia faced difficulties finding qualified Shia teachers for themselves and their children. With limited access to local mosques, very few dedicated Shia Quranic institutions, and almost no reliable online options, families often struggled to find authentic and trustworthy religious education.

A dedicated group of scholars, educators, and technology professionals came together with a shared vision: to make the internet a means of spreading ilm (knowledge) and tarbiyah (moral development). Their goal was to create an accessible yet academically sound learning platform, built around carefully selected teachers, structured courses rooted in Shia scholarship, and live one-on-one classes through platforms such as Zoom and Skype.

The initiative gradually reached Shia families across the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia. Parents who once found it difficult to locate a reliable teacher could now learn directly from qualified Alims and Alimas from the comfort of their homes. Children without access to a traditional Maktab gained an opportunity to develop Quranic understanding and literacy, while adults looking to reconnect with their faith discovered a supportive and welcoming environment for learning.

Today, OSQA has evolved from a small group of dedicated teachers into a growing global academic community serving students in more than 26 countries. Despite this growth, our mission remains unchanged: to provide authentic, accessible, and academically excellent Islamic education, firmly guided by the teachings and path of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (a.s.).
